Chanthy is a 57-year-old mother of four from Cambodia. She has been divorced since 1996 and has four children, all of whom are married and live in nearby villages. She lives with her eldest child, who works as a high school teacher. In her free time, she enjoys planting vegetables and looking after her grandchild. In May 2026, Chanthy sustained a fracture-dislocation of her right hip in a motor vehicle accident. She was a passenger on a motorcycle when it collided with a car, causing her to be thrown from the vehicle and injure her right hip. The injury has caused significant pain and difficulty with movement. She is unable to walk normally and struggles to perform daily activities independently, making her reliant on family members for assistance. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On June 11th, Chanthy will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will realign and stabilize her hip, helping to relieve pain, restore mobility, and improve her ability to walk and perform daily activities independently. She can contribute $100, but needs help raising $500 more to fund her procedure and care. Chanthy stated, “After the surgery, I hope that my pain will be relieved and that I will be able to move and walk again. I hope to regain my independence and return to my normal daily activities.”

Daw Win is a 66-year-old woman from Burma who lives with her daughter, grandson, and two granddaughters in Phop Phra District, Tak Province, Thailand. In 2022, the family fled their home in Bago Division, Burma, to escape nearby conflict. Daw Win is a homemaker, and her grandchildren are students. Her daughter is a teacher and also picks up work as a day labourer during school holidays. In late December 2025, Daw Win started experiencing lower abdominal pain and pressure around the mass when sitting. She has frequent urination and cannot sit for long periods of time due to the pain, preferring to lie down on her side. She has been diagnosed with a uterine myoma. She has been advised to undergo a total abdominal hysterectomy, the surgical removal of her uterus and cervix. If left untreated, Daw Win's symptoms will continue to worsen and put her at risk for further health complications in the future. Fortunately, Daw Win is scheduled to undergo her hysterectomy on June 11th. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of her procedure and care. Once recovered, this surgery will help Daw Win be free from pain and discomfort, and she will be able to spend time with her family and help with household chores comfortably. Daw Win said, "After surgery, I will return home to help with household chores and take care of my grandkids so that my daughter can go back to work full-time. Wai is a 29-year-old woman from Burma. She and her husband are farm workers. They have a six-year-old son who attends school. The family moved from Burma to Thailand in search of better job opportunities. On October 18th, 2026, Wai and her son were walking to their local village market to buy vegetables when a motorcycle struck them from behind. The driver was drunk and lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into Wai and her son. Wai protected her son with her body, taking the main impact. Her son only got minor bruises and did not require medical attention. Wai has a fracture in her thigh. She cannot move her leg and relies on her husband for help with all daily tasks. With the help of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), Wai will undergo surgery to reset her fractured bones and ensure proper healing. The procedure is scheduled for November 2nd and will help Wai walk again. Wai needs help raising $1,500 to help fund her treatment and care. Wai said, "I am so happy and want to thank the donors. Life is already difficult, but this support makes it worth it. Our family feels incredibly lucky that BCMF and the donors are willing to help.
