Leah is a 30-year-old woman from Uganda. Both of her parents passed away when she was still very young. She was the youngest in her family, and by the time her parents died, all her siblings had already started families of their own. She grew up under the care of her grandmother, an elderly farmer.
Determined and hardworking, Leah later secured a teaching position at a nearby community school. She enrolled in weekend studies at a college during school holidays and used her modest salary to support her education. She is married and has two children. Due to low pay, she eventually left her teaching job and started a small retail shop, which now provides her main source of income. Her husband works as a school cook. During her free time, she enjoys playing cards and occasionally playing football with her children to bond and pass the time.
Leah is pregnant, and her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section because of a high-risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Leah undergo a C-Section on January 8th. This procedure will cost $252, and Leah needs your support.
Leah says, “I don’t see any way to get the money needed for my surgery, but I have a lot of hope that with your support, my surgery will be successful.”
