Kimleang is a 16-year-old student from Cambodia. He lives with his parents and older sister in Kampong Speu province. His mother works in a garment factory, his father drives grocery items to the retail market, and his older sister works in a pharmacy. Kimleang is currently in grade 12 and enjoys studying Khmer, aspiring to become a police officer in the future. During his free time, he enjoys eating fish soup with rice, and in his free time, he enjoys playing soccer with his friends.
Kimleang was born with torticollis, which affects the sternocleidomastoid (SCM) muscle in the front of the neck, causing tightness, pain, stiffness, and headaches. His grandmother took him to a hospital when he was a baby, but could not afford the surgery at that time.
Kimleang needs to undergo a tendon and nerve repair procedure to help improve his mobility. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is helping Kimleang receive treatment. He is scheduled to undergo surgery on March 7th. His family can contribute $100 but needs your help to raise $472 more to fund his procedure and care.
Kimleang said: “I hope I can move my head after this operation and people will not make fun of me.”
