Say hi to Malaysia, a three-year-old little girl from Haiti! She lives in a rural area with her family, who loves and cares about her very much. Next year, she is scheduled to start preschool.
Malaysia was diagnosed with a heart condition called ventricular septal defect, a hole between the lower two chambers in her heart. This condition can lead to congestive heart failure and increased infections. Due to her condition, Malaysia does not have enough energy to play with other kids.
Malaysia’s family is committed to helping their daughter. Her mom says, “We will do whatever it takes for her to get better.” For $1500, Malaysia can receive heart surgery to close the hole and prevent further heart disease. After surgery, Malaysia should develop normally and no longer experience negative symptoms. Let’s help this little girl get to preschool next year!

Malaysia received surgery to treat the heart condition that threatened her life.
Malaysia’s surgery went well and she is recovering nicely. Malaysia will now have the chance to be a normal child, and keep up with the new friends she is sure to make at preschool next year.
“We thank God and everyone who helped Malaysia get better,” her mother says. “We are so happy!”
