Phan, who is 76 years old, is a retired rice farmer from Prey Veng province, Cambodia. He is married and has one son, three daughters, and seven grandchildren. He lives with his wife, who is also a retired rice farmer. About three years ago, Phan developed a cataract in his left eye, which causes him to experience itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. He has difficulty seeing things clearly and is reluctant to go out on his own. When Phan learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours to seek treatment. On July 14th, doctors at our medical partner's care center, Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre, will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery on Phan, during which an intraocular lens will be implanted in his left eye. After he has recovered, Phan will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs your help to fund this $263 procedure. Phan said: "I hope after surgery my eye can see better, so that I can easily recognize my relatives, and go places without having to worry about my eye anymore."

Evelyn is a 10-year-old smart and friendly young girl who lives in Quibdó, Colombia with her family. Her joy and curiosity shine through every day at school, where she interacts with her classmates with enthusiasm and warmth. When she grows up, Evelyn wishes to become a great veterinarian. Since birth, Evelyn has had an umbilical hernia, a condition in which a small portion of abdominal tissue protrudes through the navel. The condition has been causing her discomfort and tenderness in the navel area, especially when performing activities like jumping, playing and enjoying her childhood. Surgery has been recommended to correct the hernia, and prevent possible future complications. Fortunately, Evelyn is scheduled for repair surgery on August 20th. Our medical partner, Clínica Noel, is requesting $1,005 to fund Evelyn's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow her to live a healthier life. Evelyn’s mother says, "I would like to express my deepest gratitude for your support in my daughter’s surgery. Israel is a teenager from Malawi. He is the third-born child in a family of four children and is currently in Primary 8. His mother works in South Africa and is separated from his father. Israel lives with his father, who is a primary school teacher. Since 2024, Israel has had a hydrocele, which is a swelling in a sensitive area. He has frequently been absent from school because of pain and discomfort, which have significantly affected his daily activities and placed an additional burden on his father. Surgery has been recommended, but due to the family's financial circumstances, they are now seeking support. His father hopes that the surgical intervention will transform his son's life by relieving his symptoms and enabling him to concentrate fully on his education and future aspirations. Fortunately, on October 20th, Israel will undergo hydrocele repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $627 to fund Israel's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. "Kindly help my child get better so he can go back to school and concentrate," said Israel's father.
