Patience is a tall, quiet and humble 13-year-old girl studying in 4th grade at Katobo Primary School. She is the only child to her parents, who separated, leaving her to her paternal grandmother to raise. Patience has been with her grandmother since she was 3 months old, and has never seen her parents. Both her grandparents are small scale farmers and with the little they earn, they are trying so hard to educate her but are always limited by school fees.
Since she was a child, Patience has had an umbilical hernia. This hernia causes her weakness and pain and prevents her from having a full, healthy life. Fortunately, on November 29th, she will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner’s care center.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $230 to fund Patience’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow her to live more comfortably and confidently.
Patience’s grandmother says, “Seeing my child in good health is all I wish for but without your support, we are unable to make her health well, we need your support.”
