Paw is a 22-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her husband, mother, sister, and brother. Her husband works as a nurse. Her mother is retired, and her brother volunteers at the clinic where her husband works. Her sister helps with the household work. Their total household income is not enough to cover their basic needs. Paw enjoys sewing in her free time. Paw is currently expecting her first child. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section due to a high-risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Paw undergo a C-Section on October 5th at our medical partner's care center, Tha Song Yang Hospital. This procedure will cost $1500, and Paw needs your support. Paw shared, “Thank you so much for supporting me with the surgery cost. U Sanda is a 32-year-old monk from Burma. He has been a monk for over 15 years, and lives with other monks at a monastery. He does not earn an income, and relies on food donated at the monastery by local people. When he becomes ill, his best friend helps cover the cost of his basic medical treatment. U Sanda was born with an atrial septal defect (ASD), a condition in which a hole exists between the two upper chambers of the heart. Sometimes ASDs may close on their own during development, but sometimes this condition requires surgery to repair the hole and prevent long-term damage to the heart and lungs. U Sanda is scheduled to undergo heart surgery on September 21st at Kasemrad Prachachuen Hospital to correct his atrial septal defect, and improve his quality of life. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to cover the cost of U Sanda's procedure and care. U Sanda said, “All of the costs of my previous investigations were covered by my best friend. If BCMF and the donors do not help me, I would choose to suffer rather than continue receiving treatment, because I know the cost is very expensive.”

Dim is an 85-year-old retired rice farmer from Cambodia. He has one son and three grandchildren. His wife passed away 19 years ago from cancer, and Dim lives now with his son. Dim enjoys watching the news on TV and listening to monks pray on the radio. About two months ago, Dim developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him to have itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. Dim has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so he cannot go places on his own. When Dim learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On October 21st, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Dim contributed a $25 co-pay toward his care and needs help raising $238 more to fund his surgery. Dim said, "I hope, after surgery, my eye can see better. I can go outside and join ceremony and pagoda."
