Namutebi is a nursing assistant from Uganda. She is married with four children. Namutebi’s husband is a primary school teacher, and together they run a small drug shop in order to supplement their income and provide for their family.
Two years ago, Namutebi began to experience troubling symptoms, including difficulty breathing. She was diagnosed with a goiter, an abnormal enlargement of the thyroid gland. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Namutebi receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on July 5 at our medical partner’s care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $240, and she and her family need help raising money.
Namutebi says, “I hope to get better and continue with serving people in health and in my drug shop after surgery.”
