Vanna is a 55-year-old farmer from Cambodia, who is married with three sons. He enjoys spending his time working in the field, watching TV, and cooking.
In January 2016, Vanna’s left femur was fractured when a tree fell on him while he was cutting down trees. His fracture has caused him much pain, and has made it difficult for him to walk and farm.
For $411, surgeons at Watsi’s medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) will perform an open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) procedure to treat the fracture. After the fracture heals, Vanna will be able to walk easily again and return to work.

Vanna successfully was treated for his fractured femur.
Vanna is doing great! The surgery he had to mend his fractured femur was a great success. Since the operation, he has been resting as well as going to physiotherapy to restore strength. He can now walk much better and says he’s no longer feeling pain. He says he’s excited now that he’s healing to be able to do things by himself again and regain his independence.
Vanna says, “I am happy to go back home and go to work to support my family again.”
