Beatrice is a 46-year-old woman from Uganda. She has only one eye as the other was removed due to an illness. Beatrice is married and a mother of four children. She completed a certificate in primary education and works at a nearby school, while her husband is a small-scale farmer.
For seven years, Beatrice has been experiencing several symptoms, including lower abdominal pain and epigastric pain. She visited several health facilities seeking treatment, but all efforts were in vain as her condition continued to worsen. She was referred to our medical partner’s care center, Uganda Martyr’s Ibanda Hospital, to see a gynecologist. There, she has been diagnosed with grade three uterine prolapse. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $256 to fund Beatrice’s surgery. On January 20th, she will undergo gynecological surgery, and once completed, this procedure will hopefully alleviate her symptoms.
Beatrice says, ‘’I thank God for enabling me come to Ibanda hospital to see the specialist. I request the donor program to support my surgery because I do not have financial support, and I hope the operation will be successful. After recovering from the operation, I will continue with my job of teaching and work hard to continue supporting my family.’’
