Robert is a 52-year-old father of 11 children from Uganda. He and his wife work as subsistence farmers who rely on small-scale farming to provide food for their family, and generate a small surplus for sale.
For about a year now, Robert has had an inguinal hernia, a condition that occurs when abdominal tissue protrudes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal muscles, causing a bulge in the groin area. The condition has been causing swelling accompanied by severe pain, which has gradually affected his ability to work and carry out his daily activities. At times, the pain is so intense that even walking long distances becomes difficult. Robert initially used local herbs in an attempt to relieve the pain, but his condition continued to worsen. He eventually sought medical care at Rwibaale Hospital.
Fortunately, on September 14th, Robert is scheduled for a hernia repair surgery. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $234 to fund Robert’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
Robert says, “I hope to be relieved of pain, and also feel free and return to my duties as a farmer.”
