Bernice is a one-year-old child from Kenya. She is an only child and her parents make a small income from their dairy cow.
Bernice has a growth that causes severe pain along her spinal column. If left alone, it is likely to cause nerve damage and keep her from being able to sit, stand, or walk.
For $1500, Bernice can get a procedure called a laminectomy, as well as medication and hospitalization, to remove the mass and set her up to live a normal life. Bernice’s mother says, “I look forward to seeing my daughter walking to school one day. I pray and hope that the surgery will go well.”
Luckily, we can make that happen. By funding Bernice’s spinal surgery, we’ll help her walk, run, and move like every child should.
