Meet 27-year-old Ath from Cambodia. He has seven siblings and works hard to support his family. "A couple of years ago, Ath was in a moto accident that left him with a broken femur," Children's Surgical Centre (CSC) tells us. "He cannot walk at all and has been at home since his accident. He wishes to work but can't do any job." $405 will cover the cost of the surgery Ath needs so that he can walk again. CSC clinicians expect that once his leg is healed after the surgery, Ath will also no longer be in pain. Bernice is a one-year-old child from Kenya. She is an only child and her parents make a small income from their dairy cow. Bernice has a growth that causes severe pain along her spinal column. If left alone, it is likely to cause nerve damage and keep her from being able to sit, stand, or walk. For $1500, Bernice can get a procedure called a laminectomy, as well as medication and hospitalization, to remove the mass and set her up to live a normal life. Bernice's mother says, “I look forward to seeing my daughter walking to school one day. I pray and hope that the surgery will go well.” Luckily, we can make that happen. By funding Bernice's spinal surgery, we'll help her walk, run, and move like every child should.

Kyaw Zin is a 20-year-old from Burma with congenital heart disease. He recently moved to Thailand with his family in pursuit of a better life, but his medical condition still prevents him from fully participating in the world around him. Kyaw Zin’s mother first sought medical attention for her son when he was two years old. Doctors diagnosed him with heart disease, but as a family that made only a few dollars a day working as gardeners, treatment was financially way out of reach. So, for the last 18 years, Kyaw Zin has lived with shortness of breath, heart palpitations, and fatigue. His fingers occasionally turn blue. Once, when he was 16, he collapsed completely. We’re raising $1,500 to give Kyaw Zin the heart surgery he needs to live a healthy life. Let's do this!

Noemi is a 33-year-old Kaqchikel speaking woman from Guatemala who has a large and painful breast mass that she's worried might be cancer. She is the main provider for her family, so in addition to the hinderance of the pain, she's concerned about the risk of breast cancer and eager to have the mass removed. Removing the mass will cost $525. Our medical partner in Guatemala writes, "Noemi works hard, but she is worried for her health and also worried what the impact of her illness would be on her family. Sa Em works on a rubber farm in Cambodia and loves cooking for her family. Unfortunately, she has not been able to work or cook comfortably since she fractured her arm and wrist in a motorbike accident two years ago. Sa Em's bones have still not healed. She needs surgery to realign the bones in her arm and wrist, but since she has not been able to work consistently, she cannot afford the procedure. For $300, Sa Em will receive corrective surgery. This operation will decrease her pain and increase her mobility, allowing her to fully recover from the accident and return to her favorite activities!

Muhamad is 12-years-old and lives in Ethiopia with his parents and two younger siblings. Eight months ago, Muhamad fell and developed an infection in his right leg that worsened and spread to the bone. Muhamad can now barely walk, even with the help of crutches. As a result, he now stays home from school with his father as he farms and tends to the family's animals. Muhamad is very smart and outgoing. He misses playing soccer with his friends. With our support of $815, he will receive bone graft surgery that will allow him to walk again and return to school.
