Veasna is a 26-year-old factory worker from Cambodia who lives with his mother, grandmother, and four siblings. Two of his siblings work in factories, and the other two are in school. His mother is a housewife, and his grandmother is 105 years old. Prior to his injury, Veasna enjoyed growing vegetables around his house and playing soccer. Four years ago, Veasna was in a traffic accident that resulted in fractures to his left arm and jaw, as well as severe swelling in his right leg. Now, he has lost muscle in his right leg, causing a fixed ankle position and the shortening of his muscles and tendons in the area. He feels pain and swelling in his ankle, making it difficult to walk. When Veasna learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On May 8th, surgeons at CSC will perform a procedure to fuse his right ankle joint and help him walk easily again. Now, Veasna needs help to fund this $600 procedure. After surgery, Veasna hopes he can walk easily and play soccer again.

Meet Roeut, a 66-year-old woman living with her husband in Battambang province in Cambodia. They have five children. Nine years ago, Roeut experienced episodes of intermittent, involuntary tearing from her right eye. She sought treatment at a clinic in Siem Reap province, which included eye drops, massage therapy, and the suctioning out of purulent material from her eye. Later, she underwent cataract surgery for both of her eyes. However, she continues to experience blurred vision, persistent tearing, and discomfort in her eyes. An ophthalmologist referred Roeut to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC). Surgeons at CSC diagnosed her with obstruction and infection of the right lacrimal duct, indicating a blockage in the tear drainage system of her right eye. On July 16th, Roeut will undergo dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) surgery at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre. This procedure will address the tearing, watery eyes, and potential infections, due to impaired or blocked tear drainage. Roeut and her family are able to contribute $100 but need your help to raise $297 more to fund the procedure and post-op care. Roeut said: "After surgery, I hope my eye feels good again and I will have good vision and no tearing."

Natinael is a four-year-old boy from Ethiopia. He lives with his single mom who works at a beauty salon. Natinael has a particular fondness for animals. He enjoys watching sheep and cows, but his favorite pastime is watching the doves. Natinael started pre-Kindergarten this year. Natinael was born with bladder exstrophy, a birth condition where the bladder develops outside the fetus. Natinael's mother was referred to different hospitals all over the country. One of the doctors they met said that Natinael could only get surgery when he turned seven years old. Natinael was worried that her son wouldn't survive with his bladder exposed. Around this time, war broke out in the north, and she couldn't return to her home. When Natinael got sick in Gondar, the nurse at the hospital recommended that they go to our medical partner's care center, Bethany Kids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre (BKMCM). Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, arranged for Natinael and his mother to come to the hospital in Addis Ababa. Natinael is now scheduled for epispadias repair surgery and requires $1,040 for the treatment. He also requires a left inguinal hernia repair, a procedure that will push the bulging tissue back into his abdomen. This treatment will help Natinael grow up to be a healthy and active boy. Natinael's mom said, "I am so hopeful now. I saw God's grace from the previous surgery. Now I am confident that God will provide the surgery he needs and that he will heal from the surgery."
