Gabriel is a 21-year-old college student and the only child of a single mother, who works as a teacher in their town. Gabriel is currently in college at Meru, roughly 100 kilometers away from his mother's home, where he is studying electrical engineering. His mother cares for Gabriel and has paid for him to go to school. She also cares for Gabriel's grandparents. Gabriel is looking forward to the day when he can support his mother and care for this family. Gabriel used to ride his bike to school. Unfortunately, on June 23rd, as he was biking to school he lost control of his bike when he was going downhill and had a severe accident. He was taken to Meru General Hospital, where an x-ray revealed a compound fracture of the tibia on his right leg. On June 24th Gabriel was transferred to Nazareth Hospital, the hospital of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), which was closer to Gabriel's home in Kimbo. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner quickly diagnosed the issue Gabriel was having and created a treatment plan. On July 3rd, Gabriel will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. Post-surgery, Gabriel will be able to heal properly and walk and bike again without support. AMH is now requesting $1,049 to help fund this procedure. Gabriel said, “I was going on well with my education but this accident makes me feel disappointed. I seek help so that I can be operated on and hope that as soon as my leg is healed, I can go back to college and create my own future.”

Meet Samuel: a 34 year old who lives with his wife and 10 year old child in Malawi. He works as a painter, while his wife is a homemaker. In 2021, Samuel started experiencing intermittent swelling in his left inguinal region. He didn't seek medical intervention at the time, since the swelling wasn't painful. Last December, however, when the episodes of swelling began to increase, and he also began to experience greater discomfort which interfered with his ability to work, Samuel decided to seek help. On May 12th, Samuel met with doctors at Partners in Hope Medical Center, who diagnosed him with a left inguinal hernia. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is seeking $575 to fund the hernia repair surgery which Samuel needs, and which is scheduled for May 20th. Samuel believes the operation will help him get better, and enable him to return to work, so that he can provide support for his family. Samuel said: "I am looking forward to getting better."

Pisey is a 49-year-old husband and father from Cambodia. He lives with his wife and 15-year-old son. He has a mobile food business where he sells local spices around town. His wife works as a dishwasher in a local restaurant, and his son is in the ninth grade at the local school. Pisey has had diabetes for several years and has had trouble controlling his disease due to the lack of specialized health care available in his village. Several months ago, he stubbed his right toe and it became infected, which can occur in people with diabetes. As a result, his toe has become swollen and discolored and he is in pain. Pisey is unable to walk on his injured foot and cannot ride his motorbike to sell spices. Fortunately, Pisey's local clinic told him about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). He has been diagnosed with a gangrenous big toe by the surgeons at CSC. On September 8th, he will undergo an amputation of his toe, because gangrene can lead to serious complications if it is not treated quickly. Now, he needs help raising $479 to fund his procedure and care. Pisey shared, "I hope that I can walk again after surgery so I can return to selling my spices and supporting my family."
