Mercy is a 40-year-old woman from a village in Malawi. She owns a small business that sells chitenge, a traditional Malawian cloth. She and her husband have five children and one grandchild.
In June, Mercy was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She visited four hospitals before finally coming to our medical partner’s hospital, Nkhoma Hospital. On December 8, she underwent a hysterectomy.
Mercy’s family has been very worried about her diagnosis, and they were relieved to learn she would be undergoing surgery. Mercy looks forward to returning to her family and her business cancer-free. Now, she needs help to fund this $643 procedure.
“Thank you for the donations,” she says. “I have been terribly worried and now, finally, I will have my operation. Thank you.”
