Sandar lives in Burma with her husband and children. Until recently, Sandar was healthy. But after a miscarriage six-months-ago, she was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst that continues to grow in size and cause her debilitating pain.
For years, Sandar earned a living by selling vegetables at local markets. But now, she can no longer work because of the pain from her cyst. Sandar’s husband is a day laborer, but his work has been inconsistent and the couple are having trouble affording school fees for their children.
For $1,000 Sandar, will undergo surgery to remove the cyst from her ovary. This operation will eliminate her back and abdominal pain and allow her to go back to work so that she can support her family.

Sandar received surgery to remove a painful ovarian cyst.
Since the successful operation, Sandar reports feeling “lighter” and is able to sleep and eat once again. She said she is careful not to be too active as she hopes to make a full recovery without complications. Sandar is excited about returning to her work, selling flowers, once she has recovered.
