Mao is 62 years old. She is married and has three sons, five daughters, and eight grandchildren. In her free time, she likes to listen to the monks pray on the radio, look after her grandchildren, and go to the pagoda.
Two years ago, Mao developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurred vision, tearing, and itchiness. Mao has trouble seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and working on her own.
When Mao learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for four hours to seek treatment. Now, she needs help to fund this $292 procedure.

Mao underwent cataract surgery.
Her eye cataract was successfully removed from her left eye, and clear vision has been restored. Following the operation, she was given eye drops to reduce inflammation and prevent infection. She will return soon for the same surgery on her right eye.
Mao says, “I am happy that I can see everything clearly again. I can recognize the faces of everyone and help my family do some housework, take care of my grandchildren, and go anywhere by myself.”
