Dave is 31 years old and a farmer from the Philippines. He is the sole caregiver for his father, who has hypertension and gout. He works as a farmer, raising chickens and planting root crops. He admits that his work does not earn much, and his limited income makes it hard for him and his father to meet their daily needs. At times, his siblings help by giving money to pay for electricity, water, and his father’s medicines. Dave first noticed swelling and pain when he was in high school. By the time he reached college, the pain was unbearable. It comes and goes, and each time it happens, he finds it difficult to walk and carry out his daily activities. Dave was diagnosed with an inguinal hernia and needs surgery. Fortunately, our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines, can help. On January 28th, Dave will undergo hernia repair surgery to address his symptoms and allow him to live more comfortably. He needs help to raise $1,121 to fund his procedure and care. Dave shared, "I have always worried that my hernia would get worse. With surgery, I hope I will no longer feel afraid every day. I want to work properly again and be free from the heavy feeling of constantly wondering when my hernia will act up."

Lively little Aminen is four years old. He lives with his parents and his younger sister in Ethiopia, where his mother works in government administration, while his father assists with fieldwork and operates heavy vehicles. Aminen’s mother first discovered his condition during a hospital visit for allergies and fever. While examining him, the doctor diagnosed Aminen with cryptorchidism, a condition in which one or both of the testicles remain undescended. If he is left untreated, Aminen has an increased risk of developing hernias, testicular cancer, and fertility problems in the future. The doctor explained that Aminen's condition could be treated through surgery. Initially, Aminen's mother believed the surgery could only be performed at a private hospital, which was beyond the family's financial means. Aminen was referred to our medical partner's care center, BethanyKids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre. He is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on March 3rd, and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $754 to cover the total cost of Aminen's procedure and care. Aminen's mother said: "We have a wonderful opportunity, and I never thought my child would receive treatment at such a hospital, but due to God's plan, I hope the surgical treatment will be successful."

Nara is a 47-year-old woodworker from Cambodia. He lives in a small community in Kampong Cham province with his wife, who is a tailor. They have three children: their eldest works in a garment factory, while the two younger children are still students. In his spare time, he enjoys watching the news and joining social gatherings. Over a month ago, Nara was involved in a traffic accident that caused a wrist injury and deformity. Since the injury, he has experienced persistent pain and difficulty using his hand. He is unable to properly hold objects, which has significantly affected his ability to work as a woodworker and carry out daily activities. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On January 20th, Nara will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will help correct the position of his wrist, relieve pain, and restore function in his hand, allowing him to return to work and support his family. Nara can contribute $100, but needs help to raise $500 more to fund his procedure and care. Nara said, “I hope the surgery will help me regain the use of my hand so I can go back to work and provide for my family.”
