Hav is a four-year-old boy from Cambodia. He is the only child in his family and currently lives with his grandmother, who is a rice farmer. Because of financial difficulties, his parents have moved to the city to find construction work. He enjoys playing with toys with his cousins, and his favorite foods are fried pork and eggs. Around May 2026, Hav suffered an electric burn to his left hand. Although the wound healed with basic wound care, scar tissue gradually formed and tightened around his left ring finger. The scar contracture has tightened the skin around his left ring finger, making it difficult for him to fully straighten and move the finger. This can also make it harder for him to use his hand comfortably while playing and during other everyday activities. When Hav's family learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), they traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On September 17th, surgeons at CSC will perform a burn contracture release surgery to address the scar that is restricting his ring finger, helping him move it more naturally. Better finger movement can support his ability to play, explore, and use his hand as he grows. Now, he needs help to fund this $652 procedure. Hav's grandmother said, “I hope the surgery will help my grandson move and straighten his finger more easily. He is still very young, and I hope he can use his hand comfortably as he grows, plays, and learns.”

Aye Aye is a 36-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her husband in a refugee camp in Thailand. She and her family moved to the camp in 2024 due to the conflict in her village in Karen State, Burma. She and her husband are teachers at the same school, earning a modest monthly income. The family’s combined income is enough to cover their daily expenses, and they receive basic health care at the hospital in the camp for free, but they cannot afford expensive treatment costs for advanced procedures. Aye Aye also periodically supports her mother, who remains in Burma, with financial assistance. During her free time, she loves to listen to gospel music while planning her teaching lessons, and enjoys going to church on Saturdays. Aye Aye is currently expecting her first child, and her baby is in a breech position. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section to ensure the safety of both mother and child during delivery. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, has scheduled Aye Aye for a C-Section on August 13th at their care center, Tha Song Yang Hospital. The procedure will cost $1500. Aye Aye said, “When I heard that I need to give birth through a C-section, I became so worried, and my husband is running around to ask for help as we both cannot afford this high cost. However, when the medic later informed us that there is an organization and they will find donors to help us with the delivery cost, we both felt so happy that we don't know how to explain how we feel. Four-year-old Sinan is a KG 1 student living in Ethiopia. He is the only child of his loving parents. His mother sells vegetables, while his father is a wood craftsman at a local furniture workshop. One year ago, Sinan started to experience a loss of appetite, painful swallowing, severe snoring and nightly sleep disruptions. His throat hurts all the time, swallowing is painful, and his sleep is interrupted every night. He eats so little that doctors had to prescribe medicine to help him regain his appetite. Initially, Sinan's parents didn't realize how serious the situation was, so they treated him with simple painkillers from the local clinic. Four months ago, however, his symptoms grew much worse, and they took him to a specialist hospital. Doctors found severe tonsillitis, and said that he needed surgery as soon as possible. For his parents, the hardest part is watching their only child in pain, day after day, and needing medicine simply to eat. They work hard, yet they still cannot pay for the operation that would make him well. This weighs heavily on them. Our medical partner, Saglan Wajee General Hospital, is requesting $700 to fund a tonsillectomy for Sinan, which is scheduled to take place on October 17th. Surgeons will remove his tonsils, hopefully relieving Sinan of his symptoms, and helping him to live more comfortably. "We have waited so long and we feel helpless. We cannot wait for this surgery to finally be done," said Sinan's parents.
