Mohammed is a playful and intelligent seven-year-old boy from Ethiopia. He loves playing football, running, and spending time with his friends. He is a first-grade student and the second child in his family. Mohammed has one older brother and two younger sisters. His father works as a daily laborer, while his mother is a housewife. The family lives in a rented house and faces financial challenges. Mohammed was born with hypospadias, a condition that causes urinary dysfunction. Without treatment, he will continue to experience uncomfortable symptoms and will be at risk of future complications. When Mohammed was about one year old, they took him to a nearby health center. After examining him, the doctor advised the family to return when he was older, explaining that surgery could be performed at a later age. The family returned home, but as Mohammed grew older, they became increasingly concerned that the condition could affect his future. Fortunately, Mohammed is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on August 17th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,293 to cover the cost of his procedure and care. After surgery, he should be able to live more comfortably. Mohammed's father shared, "Thank you so much to everyone for listening to our concerns and responding to our needs. Srey Pich is a is cheerful and active girl from Cambodia. She lives in Kompot Province with her parents, who are both rice farmers. She is the only child in the family. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her toys. Srey Pich was born with congenital pseudarthrosis of the right tibia caused by neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). The condition caused her right lower leg to bow and fracture easily. Although she underwent reconstructive surgeries in 2024 and 2025, she later fell and re-injured her right leg. The condition causes pain, deformity, and difficulty walking. It limits her ability to run, play, and participate in childhood activities, and she requires ongoing orthopedic treatment to protect her leg and maintain bone healing. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On July 16th, Srey Pich will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will cost $600. This treatment will help stabilize her right leg, promote bone healing, improve her ability to walk safely, and allow her to continue growing and playing with greater confidence. Srey Pich's mother said, “Since she was born, we have worried about her leg and whether she would ever be able to walk normally. Seeing her take her first independent steps after surgery gave us so much hope. We pray this treatment will continue to strengthen her leg so she can keep walking, running, and enjoying her childhood like other children.”

Pov is a determined 17-year-old student from Cambodia. He lives in Kandal Province with his parents and is the youngest of five siblings, all of whom are married. His father sells drinking water, and his mother stays at home to care for the family and manage household tasks. He is currently studying in Grade 11 and enjoys physics. He dreams of becoming a doctor in the future. His favorite meals are soups, especially those with lots of vegetables, and he enjoys playing football with his friends in his free time. Eleven months ago, Pov sustained electrical burns to both hands in an accident. As the wounds healed, severe scar contractures developed, affecting the right first finger webspace and the left fifth finger. The scar contractures have tightened the skin and limited movement in both hands. This makes it difficult for him to grasp objects, hold items properly, and write his school lessons. He also feels self-conscious about the appearance of his scars and often hides them by wearing long sleeves. Pov sought treatment with our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). On May 21st, surgeons at CSC will perform a burn contracture release surgery to improve hand movement and restore better function. This treatment will help him write more easily, hold objects comfortably, and regain confidence in using his hands for daily activities and school. His family can contribute $25, but needs help raising $627 more to fund his procedure and care. Pov said, “I hope this surgery will help my hands move normally again so I can write my lessons easily, hold things without difficulty, and feel confident without needing to hide my scars anymore.”
