Shamim is a 25-year-old woman from the Central Region village of Mhona in Malawi. Shamim lives with her mother and her two children, while her husband is away working in another part of Malawi.
Shamim helps her mother with the farm and taking care of the family. She stays busy looking after her two young children. When she gets a few minutes to herself, she likes to watch Nigerian cinema.
Since 2015, Shamim has been dealing with a painful hernia. The hernia has made life difficult. It is hard to do her chores and take care of her children.
When Shamim was told about Watsi, she was incredibly relieved. She needs help to raise $334 to fund hernia repair surgery.
Shamim’s surgery is scheduled for March 14. Once her operation is complete, she is expected to make a full recovery.
“I really need this operation. I am so grateful I will now have it,” says Shamim.
