“I want my son to live a better life than me, and the only way is for him to get an education,” shares Siombo’s father. “With strong legs he can walk to school, and so I hope he will be able to walk properly some day.”
Siombo is a polite little boy from Tanzania. At four years old, Siombo is the eldest in a family of two children. He enjoys coloring pictures and watching other children play.
When Siombo was eighteen months old, his legs began to gradually bow outwards. Now, they are so bowed that he wiggles when walking and falls down when running. Siombo needs corrective surgery to restore his gait and reduce the risk of developing early osteoarthritis.
However, Siombo’s family cannot afford the operation that would help their son. His parents earn their living by raising goats and sheep to eat, milk, and sell. Their sales have been low lately, as they have lost many of their domestic animals to diseases. There is no extra money for Siombo’s medical treatment.
For $940, we can fund the operation that will correct his bowleggedness. This sum will also cover the two weeks of physical therapy and three-month stay at a recovery center that will ensure Siombo heals safely from his surgery.
Let’s help this family fulfill their dreams of educating their son by enabling Siombo to walk to school comfortably.
