Chhin is a six-month-old baby girl from Cambodia. She lives with her sister and parents in Prey Veng Province. Her parents are rice farmers. At home, Chhin enjoys drinking milk and napping next to her mother. She is also attracted to the visual and auditory stimulation of videos on her mother's phone. Chhin has clubfoot on her right foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Fortunately, Chhin traveled three hours to visit our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). There, surgeons will perform a clubfoot repair procedure, on June 18th. Chhin's family is able to contribute $100 towards her medical care but needs help raising $344 more to fund the procedure. After treatment, the movement in the ankle joint will increase, which is crucial for walking and other motor activities. She will be able to stand and feel comfortable when she learns to walk. Chhin parents said, "We hope that Chhin can stand and walk in a normal position as she grows up."

Shifa is a 34-year-old small-scale farmer from Uganda. She is the sixth born in a family of ten with four brothers and five sisters. After school, Shifa worked as a mobile money agent attendant at a nearby trading center. In 2019, Shifa married her husband and had their first child the following year. However, when she was three months pregnant with her current pregnancy, Shifa lost her husband in a car accident and her life has not been easy since then. Shifa's doctors are recommending she deliver her baby via a C-section to ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Shifa undergo a C-section on September 4th and the procedure will cost $252. Shifa says, “The day I lost my husband seems like I lost everything, am now all alone and have no other support. I request your support, and I believe that I will be able to deliver successfully.”

Somanuth is a five-year-old girl from Cambodia. She is the only child in her family. Her parents work in a factory in Phnom Penh, away from home, and she lives with her grandparents, two cousins, and an aunt in Prey Veng province. Her grandparents sell plastic goods at home, and her aunt sells second-hand clothes at the local market. Somanuth recently started first grade and she loves drawing. When she grows up, she wants to be a teacher. At home, she enjoys snacking on milk and cookies. In her free time, she loves drawing pictures with her cousins. Around one month ago, Somanuth developed a lesion on her gums called a gingival granuloma. This is a lesion on the gums that appears as a small, red, and inflamed nodule. It is characterized by bleeding when touched because of the numerous fragile blood vessels in it. The lump growing in size, causing her discomfort and difficulty eating. Somanuth traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On June 20th, surgeons at Children's Surgical Centre will remove the mass and Somanuth needs help to raise $248 to fund the procedure. Somanuth's father said, "I am worried about what this could be in my daughter's mouth and hope that the doctors can remove it and she will be able to eat more easily."
