My is a 50-year-old construction worker from Cambodia. He lives in rural Kompong Thom province with his wife and three children. His oldest child works in a restaurant, and the middle child works in a bakery to help support the family. The youngest child has been unable to work following a motorbike accident a few months ago. In his free time, he enjoys gardening and harvesting vegetables around his house.
On September 2nd, 2025, My slipped on a wet floor at home and suffered a left elbow fracture. After the accident, he visited a traditional Khmer healer in his village, who placed a splint on his elbow and provided him with ointment to apply to his skin. However, his pain has worsened. He visited a private clinic, where an X-ray showed that My has an elbow fracture, but he cannot afford the care. He is not able to work in construction, and he is in chronic pain.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, can help. On September 10th, My will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will realign his bone fracture using hardware to hold it in place, promoting proper healing and function. After his fracture is healed, he will be able to use his hand comfortably again and return to his job. My can contribute $50 but needs help to raise $550 more to fund his procedure and care.
My said, “After the surgery, I hope that I will no longer have any pain, so I can continue doing my job and earn money to support my family.”
