Zoe is a seven-year-old student who lives in central Haiti with her parents and younger brother. Her mother supports the family as a vendor. Zoe is in the second grade and likes arts and crafts. Zoe was born with a cardiac condition called ventricular septal defect. A hole exists between the two lower chambers of her heart, causing blood to leak through the hole without passing through the lungs to obtain oxygen. This leaves her weak and short of breath and puts her at risk of heart failure in the future. Zoe needs to fly to the Dominican Republic to receive treatment. On June 24th, she will undergo heart surgery, during which surgeons will sew a patch over the hole in her heart so that blood can no longer leak through it. Another organization is paying for the surgery, but Zoe’s family also needs help with the costs of surgery prep. Our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, is requesting $1,500 to cover labs, medicines, and check-up and follow-up appointments. It also supports securing travel documents for the family and travel costs for the social workers from our medical partner, who will accompany Zoe's family overseas. Zoe’s mother shares, “Our family is so happy that Zoe was finally chosen for surgery; we have been waiting since she was a very small child!”

Sroeurn is a 56-year-old man from Kratie Province in Cambodia. He and his wife have two children. Sroeurn's wife sells biscuits, and he often helps her with her work and around the home. Their oldest child sells groceries, and their youngest repairs cars. One month ago, Sroeurn slipped and fell at home and experienced spinal deformity and lower back pain as a result. Since the injury, it has been difficult for him to walk and perform daily activities, making him increasingly dependent on his family. When seeking treatment from a traditional Khmer therapist and taking medication did not improve his condition, Sroeurn was referred to our medical partner, Children's Surgical Center (CSC), for treatment. Fortunately, CSC can help Sroeurn receive the care he needs. On April 8th, he will undergo a hip hemiarthroplasty procedure, during which the surgeons will operate on his left hip to stabilize the fracture, relieve his pain, and restore his ability to walk. This surgery offers Sroeurn physical healing as well as the opportunity to regain his independence, rebuild his strength, and return to his daily life with renewed hope. Sroeurn's family contributed $50 to his care and need help raising $662 more to fund the cost of his surgery. Sroeurn said, "Since my fall, I've had constant lower back pain and trouble walking. The treatments I tried didn't help, and I hope further care will improve my condition and help me move normally again."

Ree is an 18-year-old young woman from Burma. She lives in Mae Ramat District, Tak Province, Thailand, with her mother, father, younger brother, husband, and son. She is a homemaker and looks after her one-year-old son. Her younger brother is a student. Her mother, father, and husband are subsistence farmers. When work is slow at the farm, they also work as day labourers. On 28th February 2026, Ree, her husband, and her son were driving back home from the market in the evening on a motorbike. Suddenly, they were hit from behind by a drunk driver, and all three of them fell from the bike onto the left side of the road. Nah suffered road rash on her face and leg, and realized that she could not stand up. Her son’s head was bruised and swollen, and on the left side of her husband’s body, there was also heavy bruising. An ambulance arrived on scene and took Nah to a nearby hospital. The doctor explained that her left ankle was fractured, requiring surgery. She was referred to our medical partner's care center, Mae Sot General Hospital. With the help of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Ree will undergo surgery to reset her fractured bones and ensure proper healing. The procedure is scheduled for March 7th and Ree needs to raise $1,500 to fund her procedure and care. This procedure will help Ree be able to walk and go back home to take care of her son, and she will no longer be in pain after treatment. Ree said, “I don’t even know what to say, but I feel sad. I have no idea where to look for funding for my treatment. I cannot walk and have to depend on my father for everything, and I miss my son at home.”
