Ijumaa is a social and friendly 11-year-old student and the fourth born child in a family of five children. He is in fifth grade and his best subjects in school are mathematics and science. His parents are small-scale farmers who grow maize and vegetables for the family’s consumption.
When he was a baby, Ijumaa accidentally put his hand into an open cooking fireplace while crawling. Now he has burn contractures, which limit the use of his hand.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is helping Ijumaa receive treatment. On March 2nd, surgeons at AMH’s care center will perform a burn contracture release surgery so that Ijumaa will be able to use his hand again. Now, he and his family need help raising $874 to fund his procedure and care.
Ijumaa shared, “I will be happy and thankful if my hand could be treated so that I can use it to hold things with.”
