72-year-old Yoeun is a retired farmer who lives in Cambodia. She is married with five sons and two daughters.
On September 30, 2016, Yoeun had a hard fall, fracturing her neck and femur on the right side. Since the accident, she has not been able to walk, and she is in pain. With the help of her son, Yoeun traveled for four hours to reach our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), for treatment.
On January 24, surgeons at CSC will replace one half of Yoeun’s hip joint with a prosthetic. Watsi is asking for $450 to fund the surgery. Your donation will help cover four nights stay in the hospital, medication, and surgeon fees. After the surgery, Yoeun will be able to walk again more easily.

Yoeun underwent hip replacement surgery.
Surgeons at CSC removed the femur head and femur neck on the right side, and a prosthesis was implanted to stabilize the fracture area. Following the procedure, she was given pain medication, and she had one week of physiotherapy at CSC before returning home. Her wound has healed nicely, and she does not experience any pain. Yoeun is now able to walk more easily than before.
Yoeun says, “Now I feel better after surgery. I have no pain, and I will go home and look after my grandchildren.”
