Miracle is a six-year-old boy who lives with his mother in Malawi. Miracle does not attend school. He and his mother have lived under an outdoor kitchen shed since their mud house collapsed, and food is often scarce. Despite the hardship, Miracle remains a quiet child who stays close to his mother, finding safety in her presence.
Last week, Miracle’s situation became even more difficult when he fell and injured his right arm. His mother rushed him to the nearest health center, which unfortunately did not have the capacity to provide proper treatment for his injury. The medical staff placed his arm in a sling and referred him to our partner’s medical care center, Nkhoma Hospital. Thankfully, generous onlookers volunteered to take Miracle and his mother to the hospital by bicycle.
At Nkhoma Hospital, an X-ray revealed that Miracle had sustained an elbow fracture of his right arm, a serious injury that requires proper treatment to heal correctly. For his mother, the news was devastating, as the thought of medical costs felt overwhelming.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is helping Miracle receive tratment. AMH is requesting $525 to fund the surgery, which will occur on February 3rd. After his surgery, Miracle will be able to heal and regain the use of his right arm, and his mother hopes that he will one day be able to attend class like other children his age.
Miracle’s mother said, “We have nothing left, and I am grateful to everyone willing to help us. Your support gives my child a chance to recover and brings hope back into our lives.”
