Brian is a joyful seven-year-old boy from Kenya who brings a smile to everyone around him. Despite his cheerful demeanor, Brian recently faced a difficult challenge. After a fall while playing with his siblings, he injured his left elbow, leading to swelling and severe pain. His concerned father sought help for Brian, and he was admitted at our medical partner’s care center, AIC Kapsowar Hospital, for treatment. An X-ray was done which showed an elbow fracture, and the doctors have recommended surgery to fix it.
As the youngest of seven children, Brian is a hardworking second grader. His father, a security guard in Kapsowar town, earns a modest income of $40 per month, which barely covers the family’s basic needs and school fees. Alongside his mother, they also work as small-scale farmers, growing maize and beans to support their family.
The family’s financial strain, exacerbated by school fees, has left them unable to afford the required surgical costs. They are reaching out for support, hoping to secure the surgery that Brian desperately needs.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Brian receive treatment. On January 9th, he will undergo a fracture repair procedure called an open reduction and internal fixation. Now, Brian’s family needs help to fund this $861 procedure.
Brian’s father says, “My son should be in school right now, but he accidentally injured his arm, which limits his daily activities. Please help my son so that he can return to school and continue his studies once he fully recovers.”
