Chhuong is a 45-year-old construction worker from Cambodia. He is married and lives in Prey Veaeng Province with his wife, who manages household duties and takes care of their three children, all of whom are students. In his free time, he enjoys planting vegetables around his home. In April 2024, Chhuong sustained a left distal femur injury following a fall from stairs, resulting in a fracture in his left distal femur. He previously underwent surgical fixation of the left distal femur with a plate and screws in a hospital in Thailand to stabilize the fracture and promote healing. About six months after the surgery, he slipped and fell again. Since then, he has been experiencing left thigh pain for the past six months, associated with loosening of the implant. The condition has caused difficulty in walking, and he currently relies on crutches for mobility. It significantly affects his daily activities and work capacity. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On June 10th, Chhuong will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will help relieve pain, reduce discomfort, and improve mobility, allowing him to walk more comfortably and return to his normal daily and work activities. He can contribute $50, but needs help raising $328 more to fund his procedure and care. Chhuong said, “Today, I hope the surgery to remove the hardware goes well. I look forward to the next steps in my treatment so that my pain can improve and I can walk more comfortably again.”

Bekam is an active and curious seven-year-old boy from Ethiopia. He loves playing football and riding his bicycle. Bekam is a Grade 2 student and lives with his mother in a rented house. His mother is a kindergarten teacher and a single parent. When Bekam was seven days old, his mother had taken him to clinic when a doctor diagnosed him with cryptorchidism, a condition in which one or both of the testicles remains undescended. Bekam and his mother were referred to a higher-level hospital for further evaluation and treatment. At the hospital, Bekam was examined and underwent an ultrasound scan. He was then placed on a waiting list for surgery. After about a month, Bekam’s mother was referred to our medical partner's care center, BethanyKids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre (BKMCM). Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Bekam receive treatment. He is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on September 7th, and needs $754 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care. Bekam’s mother said: “Thank you so much to everyone at BethanyKids for giving my son this opportunity to receive the care he needed. I am very grateful for your support and for giving families like ours this chance. I wish Bekam good health and a bright future. Korotoumou is a 29-year-old mother from Mali. She has a young son and is expecting her second child soon. In her free time, Korotoumou enjoys taking care of her home. Korotoumou's doctors recommended that she deliver by a cesarean section to prevent birthing complications. This way, her doctors can ensure the safety of both Korotoumou and her child. Our medical partner, Muso, is helping Korotoumou undergo a cesarean section on July 14th. Muso is requesting $259 to fund her procedure. Korotoumou expressed her hopes that this surgery will ensure she is able to have a healthy baby.
