Ireen is a 24-year-old single mother from Malawi. To support her family, Ireen grows maize. While fetching firewood, Ireen fell and fractured her elbow. Because of the pain, she is unable to perform daily tasks and work on the farm. If left untreated, it may result in the non-union of the fractured bone. She is scheduled for surgery on March 12th and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $525 for her surgery and care. Treatment will relieve Ireen of the pain and help her resume working on her farm again. Ireen says, “I hope to receive treatment so that I can take care of my child.”

56 year old Sylvia lives with her sister in the Philippines. As she has no family of her own, she takes care of her sister's home to earn money for her personal expenses. Several years ago Sylvia began to experience troubling symptoms, including cough, itchiness and pain in the area around her throat. In June she was examined at our medical partner's care center Our Lady of Peace Hospital, where she was diagnosed with a multinodular, non-toxic goiter. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse. Fortunately, our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), is able to help Sylvia receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on November 25th at Our Lady of Peace Hospital, when surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. A portion of the cost of her treatment is being supported by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and WSFP needs your help to raise the remaining $935 to cover the cost of Sylvia's procedure and care. Sylvia said: "This operation is very important to me since it will help me go back to doing my usual chores properly. I'm very grateful to Watsi and its donors for helping me with my expenses for this life-changing surgery."

Chanthou is a 24-year-old delivery man for a local camping accessory store. He has four siblings and lives with his older sister in Phnom Penh. Chanthou's parents and other siblings work as vegetable farmers in the province. At home, he likes to listen to music with his sister. In 2021, Chanthou fell off his motorbike and fractured the bone on his lower left leg. He went to a local clinic where surgeons fixated hardware on his tibia to assist in healing his fracture. Now, the fracture has healed but the hardware is uncomfortable and it is difficult for him to walk. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On March 12th, Chanthou will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will cost $304. The removal of hardware will complete the rehabilitation of his leg. Chanthou shared, "I want to make sure my leg is strong so I can work well and have no infection and no pain."
