Sadam and his family live and work in a small town in Ethiopia. Sadam’s father works as a carpenter, doing odd jobs to support his wife and three children.
A few years ago, Sadam was involved in an accident that caused internal complications. He was given emergency medical attention, but his family was unable to pay for his surgery. As a result, he has developed a fistula that makes it extremely difficult for him to go to the bathroom. Doing so is painful and leads to recurring bladder infections.
“I want to see my son to be able to play and go to school like other children,” say Sadam’s father of his son’s condition.
The surgery Sadam needs will cost $1,500, and will correct the complications in his intestines and urethra. Once treated, we expect that the treatment will restore Sadam’s excretory functions and reduce his pain.
