Mohammed is a playful and intelligent seven-year-old boy from Ethiopia. He loves playing football, running, and spending time with his friends. He is a first-grade student and the second child in his family. Mohammed has one older brother and two younger sisters. His father works as a daily laborer, while his mother is a housewife. The family lives in a rented house and faces financial challenges. Mohammed was born with hypospadias, a condition that causes urinary dysfunction. Without treatment, he will continue to experience uncomfortable symptoms and will be at risk of future complications. When Mohammed was about one year old, they took him to a nearby health center. After examining him, the doctor advised the family to return when he was older, explaining that surgery could be performed at a later age. The family returned home, but as Mohammed grew older, they became increasingly concerned that the condition could affect his future. Fortunately, Mohammed is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on August 17th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,293 to cover the cost of his procedure and care. After surgery, he should be able to live more comfortably. Mohammed's father shared, "Thank you so much to everyone for listening to our concerns and responding to our needs. Gay is a 37-year-old man from Burma. He lives with extended family in a refugee camp in Tak Province, Thailand. Gay used to work at a shop loading and unloading supplies, but now he is unemployed. On June 12th, 2026, while he was standing suddenly, he heard a crack from his lower back close to his hip. The next day, he woke up with pain, stiffness, and leg weakness. He could only walk two or three steps before he could no longer stand. He is unable to walk or stand, and experiences persistent lower back pain, affecting his sleep. Gay was diagnosed with spinal cord compression with cauda equina syndrome, a neurosurgical emergency that occurs when the nerve roots at the very base of your lower spine are crushed or heavily squeezed. If left untreated, this compression can cause permanent neurological damage. With the help of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Gay will undergo surgery on June 25th. He needs help raising $1,500 to fund his treatment and care. This procedure will help Gay to be able to walk and be free from pain so that he can return to his work and earn an income. Gay said, “I could not sleep at night due to the pain, and I worried and thought about where to borrow money from, which made me very stressed. The amount of money that is required is such a burden for me, and I can never borrow that much money from anyone."

Han is a 74-year-old man from Cambodia. He lives with his elderly wife and their three children. His eldest child climbs sugar palm trees to collect palm fruit and water; his second child works as a photographer; and his youngest child repairs motors. In his free time, he enjoys listening to monks pray on the radio. On October 19, 2026, Han fractured his right thigh bone near the knee after jumping off a boat. He initially received treatment, where his leg was placed in a cast, but it did not provide adequate support for the fracture. The fracture causes pain in his right thigh, especially when he moves his leg. He has difficulty walking and moving around comfortably. Because of the injury, he currently depends on his family for support with daily activities. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On November 2nd, Han will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will stabilize the broken bone using a blade plate and help it heal in the correct position. It is expected to reduce his pain over time and improve his ability to move his leg and walk again. Han can contribute $37.50, but needs help raising $563 more to help fund his treatment and care. Han's son said, “My father has been in pain since the accident, and I hope the surgery will help his leg heal properly so he can walk again. I want to see him recover, move around without difficulty, and return to his normal life.”
