Makbel is a 16-month-old baby boy from Ethiopia. He enjoys playing with cars and spending time with his older brother and sister. His mother works in the human resources department of a government organization, while his father is an electrician. Makbel was born with hypospadias, a condition that causes urinary dysfunction. Without treatment, he will continue to experience uncomfortable symptoms and will be at risk of future complications. Makbel was taken to a medical centre and referred to a higher-level hospital for further evaluation. The attending doctor recommended an ultrasound and surgical correction. However, the family was informed that there was a waiting list for surgery. Due to financial constraints, they could not afford private treatment. Eventually, Makbel was referred to our medical partner's care center, BethanyKids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre (BKMCM), for further management. Upon arrival, his mother expressed relief and gratitude for the support and access to care. Makbel was warmly received at BKMCM, where the medical team conducted a thorough evaluation. Fortunately, Makbel is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on October 30th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,293 to cover the cost of his procedure and care. Hana is a one-year-old boy from Ethiopia. He enjoys playing football and watching animated movies. His mother is a homemaker, while his father works as a daily labourer in construction. Hana was born with bladder exstrophy, a congenital anomaly that affects the bladder and surrounding structures, causing the bladder to form outside the body instead of inside the abdomen. The condition can lead to various challenges, including difficulties with urinary control, potential risks of infection, and a risk of infertility. Fortunately, Hana is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on October 12th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care. Hana’s mother shared, “My greatest wish is to see my child healthy, happy, and growing strong. I am deeply grateful to the organisation for providing my child with this life-changing support and the opportunity to receive the treatment he needed. Daniel is a six-year-old boy from Malawi. He is the youngest of four children. His single mother is raising him following the loss of her husband. Daniel’s mother sells soap to support the family, while the eldest child does casual work in town to help provide for the family’s needs. For two years, Daniel has had a hydrocele, a condition that causes swelling and discomfort in a sensitive area of his body. Over time, the swelling increased and caused Daniel worsening discomfort, making it increasingly difficult for him to carry out his daily activities. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, can help. On September 9th, Daniel will undergo hydrocele repair surgery. Daniel’s mother is hopeful that the surgery will relieve his discomfort, improve his daily activities, and allow him to live a healthier and more comfortable life. He needs help raising $627 to fund his surgery and care. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Daniel's mother shared, "My child usually cries because of the pain. He does not look happy at all; kindly help me as we have waited for so long. This is my rare opportunity for my child to be supported."
