Rotha is a 35-year-old former security guard from Cambodia. He lives near Phnom Penh with his wife and two children. His first child is studying in Grade 7, and his second child is four years old. Because of his medical condition, he is unable to work, so the family’s income currently depends on his wife, who works as a cleaner. In his free time, he used to enjoy playing volleyball with friends in his village, but he can no longer play because of his injury. In 2022, Rotha was involved in a traffic accident that caused a fracture of his right leg. After the accident, he underwent open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) surgery at a private clinic, where hardware was implanted to stabilize the fractured bone. Now, the hardware is exposed and infected. He continues to experience chronic pain, discharge from the wound, difficulty bending his knee, and limited walking ability. This condition has prevented him from returning to work and affects his independence. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On March 5th, Rotha will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will help remove the infection, reduce pain, and improve leg function. His family can contribute $50, but they need help raising $328 more to fund his procedure and care. Rotha shared, “Since the accident, I have been living with pain and infection in my leg. I cannot walk properly or bend my knee, and it has affected my daily life so much. I hope this treatment will remove the infection, relieve my pain, and help me walk normally again.”
