Stephen is 35 years old. He is a single man and the youngest in his family. He works as a casual laborer in people’s farms to make ends meet. He lives on his ancestral land.
Stephen was in a road accident on April 22 of this year. This caused him to fracture his lower limbs. He was taken to the district hospital, where he stayed for a month awaiting surgery. He has had his leg placed in a caste, and then a doctor referred him to our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation.
He was diagnosed with multiple fractures after x-ray imaging. He is scheduled to undergo an open reduction internal fixation procedure to stabilize his fractures on May 29.
Stephen’s brother has raised $1,042 but still needs an additional $1,451 to pay for the procedure. They are appealing to Watsi to help raise the rest of the funds.
Stephen’s brother says, “I want my brother to be treated and continue working. Its hard to provide for a large family.”
