Queen is a beautiful three-year-old girl from Tanzania. She is the third-born child in a family of five and lives in a pastoral household.
Queen sustained burn injuries while picking food from the kitchen on her own, when she accidentally fell into a pot with hot food. The burns affected her left axilla, elbow, forearm, and small finger. She initially received wound care at a nearby clinic before being referred for further assessment. Upon evaluation, Queen was diagnosed with burn scar contractures involving the upper limb, significantly limiting movement of her arm. Without surgical release, the restriction could worsen as she grows, affecting her ability to use her arm normally.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Queen receive treatment. On February 6th, surgeons at their care center will perform contracture release surgery and skin graft to restore function and ensure she can grow, play, and attend school without physical limitation. They ask for help raising $832 to make her treatment possible.
Queen’s mother says, “She cannot lift her arm properly to play or dress herself, and I worry how this will affect her as she grows.”
