Fedasa is a delightful five-year-old boy from Ethiopia. His mother describes him as having a passion for creativity and learning English. He is also very helpful around the house - often assisting her in cleaning the house and in preparing meals. His mother works as an assistant teacher, and also takes on additional domestic jobs during her spare time, such as baking injera and washing clothes in her neighborhood.
About six months ago, Fedasa’s mother noticed a swelling in his right scrotum after his circumcision. Concerned, she took him to a local health center, where the doctor recommended an ultrasound for further investigation. However, financial constraints made it difficult for her to proceed with the diagnostic test.
In search of help, she reached out to her sister, who informed her about Mobile Clinic Ministry (MCM), running free medical services during a two-day mobile clinic in Sululta, approximately 75 km from Addis Ababa. Fedasa’s mother spoke with one of the MCM staff doctors, who examined Fedasa and advised her to seek support from our medical partner’s care center, BethanyKids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre (BKMCM). At the hospital, Fedasa was diagnosed with an inguinal hernia, a condition where abdominal contents push through a weak spot in the lower abdominal wall into the groin, creating a bulge. Surgery treatment has been recommended, but Fedasa’s family is unable to afford the cost.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Fedasa receive treatment. On December 4th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery to alleviate his symptoms, allowing him a healthier life. Now, Fedasa’s family needs help to fund this $512 procedure.
Fedasa’s mother expressed her heartfelt gratitude, saying, “I thank God for His support in everything. May God bless you, the dedicated staff, and donors. I pray for my child’s health and a safe recovery from surgery.”
