Va is a 72-year-old nun. In her free time, she likes to meditate, go to the pagoda to join ceremonies, listen to monks pray on the radio, and read books.
Two years ago, Va developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurred vision and tearing. Va has trouble seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and working on her own.
When Va learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours to seek treatment. On May 3, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, Va will be able to see clearly again. Now, she needs help to fund this $292 procedure.

Va underwent cataract surgery.
Her eye cataract was successfully removed from her left eye, and clear vision has been restored. Following the operation, she was given eye drops to reduce inflammation and prevent infection. She will return soon for the same surgery on her right eye.
Va says, “I feel very happy that I can see clearly again because I want to recognize people well, join ceremonies at the pagoda easily, read books, and go anywhere outside without needing another person to go with me.”
