Tumuhimbise is a 46-year-old woman from western Uganda. She shared that she has had mental illness at times throughout her life and has never been able to go to school. She now relies on cultivation to make ends meet.
Two years ago, Tumuhimbise started experiencing persistent back and lower abdominal pains. Until recently, she had never been to any hospital to seek treatment for the condition. At Nyakibale Hospital, Tumuhimbise underwent scans that indicated she has multiple uterine fibroids. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. However, Tumuhimbise is not able to afford the cost of surgery and appeals for help.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $219 to fund Tumuhimbise’s surgery. On December 15th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Once recovered, Tumuhimbise will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain.
Tumuhimbise shared, “I expect to have a new life after surgery. I know I will be able to keep farming once I am fully recovered.”
