Chanthoeun is a 53-year-old homemaker from Cambodia. She lives in Phnom Penh with her husband and has one son, two daughters, and a grandchild to keep her busy. At home, she enjoys cooking, doing her housework, and caring for her grandchild. Five years ago, Chanthoeun had an ear infection. This infection caused her right ear's tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, to perforate. As a result, Chanthoeun experiences ear discharge, tinnitus, hearing loss, and sometimes cannot sleep well at night. She has taken medicine from a local pharmacy for treatment but has not seen any improvement. Chanthoeun traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On January 16th, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her right ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Chanthoeun needs help raising $487 to fund her procedure and inpatient care. She said: "After surgery, I hope my ear stops having frequent infections and improves my hearing."

Vireak, who is 37 years old, is a rice farmer. He lives with his wife and two sons in Ratanakiri province in Cambodia. When he isn't working, Vireak likes playing volleyball. About a month ago, Vireak was accidentally hit in his left eye while working with a wire. Afterward, he developed a cataract in his eye, which now causes him blurry vision and pain, limiting his ability to work regularly. When Vireak learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for seven hours seeking treatment. On May 8th, doctors at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform phacoemulsification cataract surgery and implant an intraocular lens in his left eye. After he has recovered, Vireak will be able to see clearly again, which will enable him to return to his work as a rice farmer. Now, he needs your help to fund this $253 procedure. Vireak shared: "I hope after surgery I can go back to work and I can earn money to support my family."

Nant is a 47-year-old woman from Burma who lives with her husband and three sons. Her husband is a pastor, she is a homemaker, and her three sons are students. Nant has gallstones and common bile duct stones, which cause loss of appetite and poor sleep. She also feels weak and cannot walk as much as she could before. Nant has received medication and injections, which have helped to lessen the pain in her back and abdomen and decrease jaundice. However, only surgery can help her recover. Nant has been advised to undergo a cholecystectomy, the surgical removal of the gallbladder. If left untreated, Nant's symptoms will continue to worsen and put her at risk for further health complications in the future. After seeking treatment through our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), Nant is scheduled to undergo her cholecystectomy on March 6th. BCMF is requesting $1,487 to cover the total cost of Nant's procedure and care. Nant said, “I have been praying for this miracle. I am very thankful to [BCMF] for their kindness in supporting me and my family. Now, I will pray for my surgery to be a successful one. I am looking forward to a full recovery from this condition because I want to continue serving God together with my husband and children.”
