Theany is a 33-year-old woman from Cambodia. She lives three hours from Phnom Penh at a local non-profit that provides accommodation, education, and job opportunities for at-risk children and Cambodians with disabilities. In her free time, she likes drawing and spending time with her friends.
Theany was born with Cerebral Palsy. She has bilateral muscle stiffness, affecting both her arms and legs. Although she can walk, sit, stand, and run, she experiences spasticity, an abnormal gait, and pain in her left knee.
When Theany learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for five hours seeking treatment. On March 6th, surgeons at CSC will perform a left patella lateral release, medial plication to address the alignment of the knee, and physiotherapy to improve her knee function by addressing the abnormal alignment and tightening of the soft tissues around the patella. Now, Theany needs help to fund this $600 procedure.
Theany’s friend shared, “I hope Theany can have surgery to address her discomfort and improve her mobility.”
