Florah is a 45-year-old mother of three from the Rukingiri district in southwestern Uganda. Her eldest son is awaiting to join college, while the youngest is in primary 6. Both she and her husband are small-scale farmers who grow food crops for home consumption but often sell the surplus to generate an income. In her free time, she enjoys listening to the radio. For two years, Florah has been experiencing vaginal bleeding, backache, and lower abdominal pain with unpleasant discharge which is worsening. She has been diagnosed with multiple uterine myomas and premalignant cervical lesions and is unable to raise funds for her treatment. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $219 to fund Florah's surgery. On February 28th, she will undergo a hysterectomy at our medical partner's care center. Once recovered, Florah will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Florah says “I am really in deep pain, I don’t have the money needed for my surgery and kindly, I request for your support to make my surgery possible.”

Samorn is a 79-year-old nun living in a rural village in Kandal province, Cambodia. Sadly, her husband passed away 20 years ago and Samorn has lived and worked in a pagoda ever since. She enjoys cooking and meditation. One year ago, Samorn developed a cataract in her left eye, which causes her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. Because she has difficulty seeing clearly, she is no longer confident about going places on her own. When Samorn learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours to seek treatment. On May 8th, doctors at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform small incision cataract surgery and implant an intraocular lens in her left eye. After she has recovered, Samorn will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs your help to fund this $253 procedure. Samorn shared: "I hope I can see more clearly and do more at the pagoda and visit the temples further away some time."

Nov is a 52-year-old rice farmer from Prey Veng province. He is married and has one son, three daughters, and two grandchildren. Sadly, his wife passed away four years ago. Since then, he has been living with his oldest daughter, who supports them by selling eggs in the market. In his free time, he likes listening to the radio and watching the news. About two years ago, Nov developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him photophobia, tearing, and blurry vision. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, thus he is unable to travel on his own. When Nov learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On February 13th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and implant an intraocular lens n his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Nov needs help raising $253 to fund his procedure. Nov said, "I hope after surgery I can work and recognize people well."
