Mi is a 67-year-old moto repairman from Cambodia. He is married and lives with his wife, who takes care of the household. They have six children, all of whom are married and live in a nearby village. They visit their parents from time to time. In his free time, Mi enjoys looking after his cows and chickens. In December 2025, Mi was involved in a traffic accident between two motorbikes, which left him with a fracture in his left hip. He initially sought traditional treatment for six months, but his condition did not improve. Since then, he has continued to experience hip pain and difficulty walking. He now relies on crutches for support and struggles to put weight on his left leg. Because of the injury, he has been unable to return to his moto repair work and earn a living. After a friend recommended Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), Mi decided to seek further treatment. On November 2nd, doctors will perform a total hip replacement (THR) on his left hip to relieve his pain and improve his mobility. Mi and his family can contribute $50 and need support for the remaining $1,450. Mi said, “I hope the surgery will help me walk normally again without needing crutches. I have been unable to work since the accident, and I want to recover so I can return to fixing tires and support my family.”

Thu Ya is a 21-year-old man from Burma. He lives with his wife in Chomburi Province, Thailand. He is a day labourer at a metal factory, and his wife is a homemaker. His income is enough to cover their daily expenses, and sometimes he also sends some money to his mother who lives in Burma. In his free time, he likes to learn the Chinese language on his phone. On the 17th of July. 2026, on the way from his work to his apartment, Thu Ya was driving a motorbike and fell, breaking his left arm and leg. He cannot walk and is unable to use his left arm to hold things. He is in pain and was forced to stop working. With the help of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Thu Ya will undergo surgery to reset his fractured bones and ensure proper healing. The procedure is scheduled for August 28th and will cost $1,500. This procedure will help Thu Ya be free from pain and able to walk and grab things again. He will be able to go back to his work after he is fully recovered. Thu Ya said, "I am stressed as I am in debt due to my condition and cannot work since my accident until now. While I am waiting for treatment, I will learn more Chinese and hopefully one day I will work as a Chinese translator as my new job. I feel like I cannot do heavy work after this treatment, so I will not return to my previous work."

Kebede is a 70-year-old security guard from Ethiopia. He is a widower and a father of five. After his wife passed away, he continued working exhausting 24-hour shifts to support his family. Recently, however, his condition has made it increasingly difficult to carry out his work and daily responsibilities. For the past two years, Kebede has been living with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), an enlargement of the prostate gland. The condition has been causing him significant discomfort and making it increasingly difficult to carry out his work and daily responsibilities. Physicians at Saglan Wajee General Hospital determined that Kebede should undergo surgery treatment.
