Komushana is a 59-year-old mother from Uganda. She is married with seven children, who all have their own families. Both Komushana and her husband work as small scale farmers.
About one year ago, Komushana noticed a mass growing in her neck. Hearing about Watsi through our medical partner’s care center, she decided to seek treatment. At the hospital, Komushana was diagnosed with a goiter and was recommended for thyroidectomy surgery.

“After surgery, I hope to be relieved of this condition and I continue with farming together with my husband,” says Komushana.

Komushana had a successful subtotal thyroidectomy, and she reports only mild pain on the incision. This treatment will help her to live without pain. It has also made Komushana feel more confident.
“I am very grateful for the support you gave me. I could never afford this. I am now relieved of the pain I had, I can breathe comfortably, and I hope to continue with farming. When I get money, I will help others,” Komushana says.
