Vichea is seven years old and a Grade 3 student from Cambodia. He lives in Kampot Province with his parents and his three-year-old younger brother. His father is a farmer, and his mother is a vegetable seller. He enjoys studying mathematics and playing football with his friends. He dreams of becoming a police officer when he grows up. On August 3, 2026, Vichea fell while playing with his friends at school, causing a closed fracture of his right wrist. The fracture causes swelling and pain in his right wrist, making it difficult for him to move his hand, hold objects, write, eat, and participate in school and play activities. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On August 5th, Vichea will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will cost $600. This procedure will realign and stabilize the fractured bone, helping his wrist heal properly. After recovery, he will be able to use his hand more comfortably, return to school, and play with his friends again. Vichea's father said, “Seeing my son in pain is very difficult. I hope this surgery will help him recover completely so he can return to his normal life as soon as possible.”

Sim is a 76-year-old widow from Kampong Cham, Cambodia. She previously worked as a rice farmer and is now retired. She has four sons, four daughters, and twenty-two grandchildren. She lives alone in a house near her youngest daughter, who works in a garment factory. Her children provide support when needed. In her free time, Sim enjoys listening to the radio and listening to monks' prayers. Three years ago, Sim developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so she is not able to go places on her own. When Sim learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On July 8th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $263 procedure. Sim shared, "I hope that after cataract surgery, my vision will improve so that I can recognize her relatives easily, go outside and travel to more distant places independently, and no longer worry about my eyesight."

Dah is a 52-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her husband, two daughters, and a son in the village in Karen State, Burma. Dah and her husband work as agricultural day laborers. Currently, Dah experiences back pain while sitting for long periods. She was diagnosed with gallstones and has been advised to undergo a cholecystectomy, the surgical removal of the gallbladder. If left untreated, Dah's symptoms will continue to worsen and put her at risk for further health complications in the future. After seeking treatment through our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), Dah is scheduled to undergo her cholecystectomy on June 25th. BCMF is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of Dah's procedure and care. Dah said, “We do not have work every day. If there is work available but I have back and stomach pain, I cannot work, so we do not have income for the day that I did not get to work. I wish I could get the surgery and be free from this pain, but I do not have the money. Thank you so much for helping me. Without your help, I had decided that I would just stay with the stone inside me for the rest of my life.”
