Bravin is a ten-year-old boy from Kenya. He is in the 4th grade and is the firstborn in a family of two children. His mother, a single parent, does not have a permanent job. She works as a casual laborer, washing clothes for people in the estate to earn a living.
About a year ago, Bravin’s mother noticed that he had an undescended testis on the right side. He had previously experienced the same problem on the left side when he was three years old, which was corrected through surgery. They visited another facility, and a scan was done.
Bravin was diagnosed with cryptorchidism, a condition in which one or both of the testicles remain undescended. If left untreated, Bravin has an increased risk of developing hernias, testicular cancer, and fertility problems in the future.
Bravin will be receiving assistance from our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH). Fortunately, he is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on August 21. AMHF is requesting $483 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care.
Bravin’s mother shared, “My wish is to see my boy better, for him to have a smooth childhood, since he has gone through a lot since childhood, having delayed milestones.”
