Robinas is an intelligent 11-year-old boy who lives in Ethiopia with his parents and cousin. His father is a teacher who works hard to provide for the family, while his mother has been living with a chronic illness that has kept her at home for several years. Despite these challenges, his parents have remained committed to supporting both his education and his health. Robinas is on a full scholarship at a private school, where he consistently ranks among the top students in his class. His dedication and hard work have earned him several medals in recognition of his outstanding academic performance. Outside the classroom, he enjoys playing football, reading books, and spending time with his cousin. Robinas was born with hypospadias, a condition that causes urinary dysfunction. Although his parents noticed the condition at birth, they were advised to delay surgery until he was older, as the procedure would be safer once he had developed further. Over the years, the family visited several hospitals but were consistently told to wait. Eventually, doctors at a private hospital confirmed that Robinas was eligible for surgery; however, the cost was beyond the family’s financial means. They were then referred to a public hospital, where they faced a long waiting list. This prolonged waiting period has been emotionally difficult for the family, especially as Robinas has begun asking his father why he is different from other boys. After six months, the family finally received wonderful news. They were informed that Robinas had been referred for surgery at our partner’s medical care center, BethanyKids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre (BKMCM). Robinas is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on June 29th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,293 to cover the cost of his procedure and care. Robinas’s father shared, “Thank you so much for BethanyKids’s help with the children and for supporting my son. I feel terrible when I’m unable to afford that surgery, but the support means so much to us. Thank you again, God bless you all.”

James is 48 years old and a father of three from Malawi. He works as a driver, but is now unable to work due to his health condition. Six months ago, James was diagnosed with a bilateral inguinal hernia, a condition where abdominal tissue or fat pushes through weak spots in the lower abdominal wall on both sides of the pubic bone. This requires prompt medical attention because it causes pain and carries a risk of other health complications. Surgical support helps to save one's life. Fortunately, on July 1st, James will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $575 to fund James's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. James looks forward to surgery that will bring back his life, enabling him to concentrate on his job and support his family. He shared, "Your support will save my life and my family's as I am the breadwinner."

Anderson is 62 years old and a farmer from Malawi. He had hoped to spend his days tending his fields and enjoying the company of his wife and grandchild. Living in a village in Dedza District, Malawi, he and his wife have watched their six children grow up, marry, and build lives of their own. However, nine months ago, Anderson started experiencing troubling symptoms that affected his ability to farm and do his daily tasks. He was diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia. He started using a catheter and was given medications, but these only brought temporary relief. Physicians at our medical partner's care center, Nkhoma Hospital, determined that Anderson should undergo a prostatectomy, surgery to remove part or all of the prostate. For Anderson, the possibility of treatment has brought renewed hope. Yet the cost of surgery remains beyond what he and his family can afford. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, can help. Anderson is scheduled to undergo surgery on June 11th, and needs help raising $530 to fund this procedure. Once completed, it will hopefully improve Anderson's quality of life. More than anything, Anderson wants to regain his health, return to his farm, and once again provide for his household without the burden of constant illness. He says, “This condition has kept me away from my fields and changed my life. I hope that after treatment, I can get back on my feet and live freely again.”
