Win is a 57-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her husband and her 10-year-old granddaughter in a village in Karen State, Burma. She is a homemaker, her husband is retired, and her granddaughter is a fourth-grade student. Win has two daughters who work as domestic workers in Bangkok, and sends them some money to buy food monthly. This income is occasionally insufficient to cover their living expenses.
In January 2024, Win began to experience blurred vision in both eyes. These symptoms have made it increasingly difficult for her to see clearly. Win was diagnosed with retinal detachment, a condition in which the retina pulls away from the supportive tissue in the eye, resulting in vision loss. If left untreated, she could lose vision completely.
Win is scheduled to undergo surgery to reattach her retina on November 26th. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of her procedure and care. After his surgery, Win’s vision will hopefully be restored, and she will resume her daily activities comfortably.
Win said, “I hope that I will be able to see more clearly after this surgery. I am grateful for all the support I receive from the donors and BCMF. Thank you for your helping hand towards my treatment cost.”
